Sir Michael meets Professor Stebbing
A message from Sir Michael
Action Against Cancer is delighted to announce that Sir Michael Parkinson, CBE, has become a Patron of Action Against Cancer. Sir Michael recently visited Professor Justin Stebbing's labs at Imperial College and also interviewed Professor Stebbing. We are hugely appreciative for Sir Michael's support.
In choosing which charities to become involved with I place equal importance on the cause itself and the quality of the people involved. Action Against Cancer ticks both boxes. The case for supporting the development of cures for cancer almost speaks for itself, but I was eager to meet the team at the labs for which Action Against Cancer provides funding, before committing my support to the charity.
I have spent my life meeting remarkable people and can now add Professor Justin Stebbing to that list. Justin is absolutely engrossed in his trade, and what a trade - developing cures for cancer. His obvious intelligence is matched by a resolute determination to making a real, lifesaving difference - a determination shared by his exceptionally bright and sparky team of young scientists.
I look forward to continuing my involvement with the charity and encourage the business community and the public to take inspiration from the charity's name and take action against cancer.
Sir Michael Parkinson, CBE
